EIfEL Membership and Events Manager

The European Institute for eLearning (EIfEL) is seeking to appoint a Membership and Events Manager in order to expand its activities across Europe and internationally.

Reporting to the Development Director, the person appointed will assist with the implementation of EIfEL’s strategic plan, taking particular responsibility for membership services and events.

Job Description

Membership strategy

  • To lead on developing the membership strategy

  • To identify new sectors of membership and other affiliations

  • To establish and meet the needs of the membership

 

Management of membership services

 

  • To foster two-way communication with members about ways in which the Institute can support them

  • To develop and manage a series of activities, physical and virtual, to support members
  • To monitor and safeguard the retention of existing members

  • To lead on the identification and recruitment of potential members

  • To lead on the production of membership marketing materials

  • To ensure that the membership database is comprehensive and reliable

  • To oversee the processes and systems for the collection of membership subscription renewals

  • To model likely income from membership subscriptions

  • To ensure agreed income targets are met

 

Event Management

 

To take principal responsibility for the organisation of EIfEL Conferences and other events and for the exploitation of their results including:

  • Developing an implementing an event strategy
  • Establishing partnerships for the success of the events
  • Recruiting sponsors and exhibitors
  • Recruiting speakers and delegates
  • Promoting members
  • Working with the service providers to the success of the events

 


Communications

 

  • To establish and observe the Institute’s communication strategy

  • To maintain relations with institutional partners at a European and international level

  • To ensure that all relationships with EIfEL’s partners, clients and associated organisations and their representatives are carried out in a friendly and professional manner, at all times ensuring EIfEL’s reputation as an accessible, helpful and professional body is maintained
  • To manage the content of the website, including online service provision and forums

  • Develop and deliver a range of publicity and promotional materials to support the growth of the Institute

  • Contact media on a regular basis, and coordinate press releases


Participation in European projects

 

  • To contribute to the projects in which EIfEL is co-ordinator or partner

  • To take principal responsibility for the communication and exploitation of project outcomes

Person Specification

The successful applicant will be a self-starter with strong communication, administrative and project management skills. Ideally, she/he will have a third level or professional qualification.

She/he will
  • be English mother tongue and fluent in another European language — preferably French
  • posses a high level of literacy, including previous work written for publication and experience of public speaking
  • possess an ability to plan, manage own workload and work to strict deadlines 

  • be highly motivated, creative and innovative and computer literate with well developed IT skills
  • use creative skills to help ensure that all EIFEL activities are carried out to the highest standards
  • be enthusiastic, helpful and willing in the manner in which all duties are carried out, in line with EIfEL core purpose and Business Plan
  • be a collaborative and positive contributor to the EIfEL team 
  • have an ability to work productively with a wide range of people/organisations in the private, public, voluntary and community sectors

  • have a desire and ability to liaise with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures
